Sand dollars

I love sand dollars!  I think when they are alive, they are so beautiful. I think the skeleton that remains when they die are so special. I found this description on Pinterest and ordered the sand dollars online.  I used candy molds filled with white chocolate that I sprinkled with cinnamon to represent sand. I put these together to share with my coworkers for Easter....I think it's such a neat way to share about Jesus.  The best part is opening up the shell to find the 5 doves!

Embroidery Project

As mentioned in the last post I bought a creative magazine which came with a kit that included a hoop, fabric and embroidery thread.  Below is what I started (I still need to sew the stems). ~ JM

The kit came with a floral designed that spelled "LOVE".

A stitch guide.

Valentine treats

For February, I made these little critters for coworkers for Valentine's day.  I saw the idea on Pinterest...I had a bit of trouble making the bunny ears, so ended up making most into mice :) The body is a tootsie pop!

Mix-Media Collage

I bought a creative magazine called "Mollie Makes".   The current issue came with fancy papers to cut and make collages or whatever.  I first drew fancy designs in black pen followed by painting water color over the top of the drawing on water color paper. With the fancy paper I cut out flower pedals and glued on top.

The magazine also came with a hoop kit along with the fabric, needle and thread.  I will spend the next month working on the embroidery project and hope to show it for next month!  ~ JM

tasty pretzel treats

I have enjoyed these tasty treats over the years...but finally tried making them this year.  They are so simple and tasty.  I found the directions on Pinterest. They are a great treat to make with kids also. The ring pretzels are a bit tricky to find, but Target had them. There are so many choices of Hershey kisses to put in and then of course an m and m on top once melted.

Mom's House (Part 2)

Happy New Year!!  Last year I wrote a blog post on my mother's creativity.  There is more to share and below are some examples of her work I saw when I visited at Christmas.  Over the fireplace my mom placed empty wine bottles she spray painted and added magnolia leaves for a nice greenery display for Christmas.  She also took an old wooden pallet and spray painted the word "flowers" to put in her garden.  Lastly, in the dining room she took off the top part of a standing lamp and placed a potted plant on it.  In that same room the chandelier is covered with mini lampshades she found at a hardware store.  ~ JM

Thumb print turkeys

I made the cute little turkeys with the kiddos for Thanksgiving. Super easy and super cute! I found this idea on Pinterest and then added the frame and ribbon.
