Color Theory

I went to a wonderful art exhibit at the Hirshhorn Museum called, "Color Wheel" by Pat Steir.

This reminded me of an art lesson regarding color theory.  I found great explanations and worksheets on the subject here and here and also here.  This concept can be complex but filling out a color wheel helps put things in perspective.

Color theory explains how color is used.  You can see how colors can be warm and cool and also how they complement and relate to one another. 

You notice in the art exhibit shown above that the artist used some complementary colors. Complementary colors are any two colors which are directly opposite each other on the color wheel.  ~JM
